AI: When Human Connection becomes Priceless

In the past week, discussions about AI have come up in work I've done with start-up founders, business leaders, angel investors, civil servants, public sector leaders, aspiring entrepreneurs, technicians and specialist professionals.
In my conversations with them about the eye-watering speed of AI developments, I have noticed and sensed a few things:
Mild Panic: OMG I can’t keep up! Where will this all lead? What do other people know that I don’t know? I’m going to be left behind! Am I dispensable? What’s my value any more? I feel sick! Stop, slow down, let me get off!
Efficiency-Fever: Bring it on! We can do MORE, QUICKER, CHEAPER , NEATER, LEANER! And the best bit? Less human messiness and complexity! Oh, BEAUTIFUL BOTs we love you!
Adrenalin-Rush: Tomorrow is too late already! The Fast Lane is for coasters! Set up the intravenous caffeine feed and burn-baby-burn that midnight oil - there’s money to be made and it’s going to make us happier than we EVER imagined!
Icky Tummy: Something feels off - like low level nausea. Is it just me? Computer says Yes but my gut, soul and intuition are sounding alarm bells. Let’s just breathe…
Anticipatory Grief: Is this RIP to relationships, emotion, connection, person-centred approaches and authentic humanity? Please don’t go …
The more processes, procedures, routine tasks, repetitive work, standard operations and generic duties get botified with AI, one thing is becoming crystal clear to me. The VALUE of human, authentic connection and relationships will continue to soar.
As bots become more prevalent, nurturing and embedding H.U.M.A.N. connection will become more precious. It will be like investing in gold when all other assets are depreciating.
The companies and organisations that integrate human connection, high quality relationships and honest conversations into their ways of working have a huge opportunity to have the BEST of BOTH WORLDS.
Of course it makes sense to BOTIFY! But only if you HUMANise at the same time.
